Top 10 things that Bite about pregnancy!

Before I start, let me just say that I am 36+ weeks pregnant and I am at a point where I can complain! I have gained 36lbs and carry around a 24lb toddler in addition to the 36 I have been carrying around. So let me vent if you will. I know being pregnant is wonderful and I can't wait to meet my new bambino, sometimes I just wish Josh would grow a uterus!!!!

Top 10 things that really bite about pregnancy!

10. Gaining weight --- let's face it, who likes to gain weight.... No ONE! If you say you do you are lying! But we have to gain it for the baby, still it isn't fun!

9. Weight check at every appointment --- umm yeah, I can totally see I am getting bigger, but the reminder that I get when I walk in and have to get on the scale isn't too pleasent. And then the sweet little nurse likes to talk about it, like you didn't already know you put on 5lbs in a week. thanks!

8. Stretch Marks --- knock on wood, I didn't have them with Meredith and don't yet with this pregnancy, but it is still a fear! Every morning I try to look to see if I see any, that isn't easy!

7. Outgrowing clothes faster than a toddler --- everyone says oh don't buy anymore you only have a few weeks left and then you start thinking that too, ummm last time I checked going around naked wasn't an option, so really if you want to wear something you have to buy new ones especially at the end when nothing fits!

6. Swollen feet --- it doesn't come until the end, but when it happens UGH! I mean they hurt, they are ugly, they hurt and they are UGLY! and the worst part is, they don't immediately go back down when you deliver. It takes a few weeks!

5. The Glucose test --- it is easy for my male Ob/gyn to say it isn't that bad, why? because he has NEVER HAD TO DO IT! Let's face it, it taste like shit! and it makes you want to vomit and if you do vomit or take longer than 5 minutes to drink the awful concoction, you get to drink another one!

4. Hemorrhoids & Constipation--- I wasn't going to go here, but if we are being honest - let's be honest!

3. Getting Checked --- Ah one of my favorites. Why do we get checked each week from 36 weeks on..... it is painful, uncomfortable, not real fun or easy to get undressed and redressed in the Ob's office and honestly it really doesn't tell me much. I hear of women being dilated for 3cm for weeks, or women who weren't dilated and their water broke (that's me!) I mean what is the point and did I mention that it hurts! Oh yes it hurts! Check me all you want when I am in labor, but when I'm not, WHAT IS THE POINT!

2. Going to the bathroom all day and night! --- No I am not talking about when you are barely showing or not at all and think you need to go to the bathroom all the time. I am talking about when that little bambino has parked his head on your bladder and it hurts so bad and you think you are going to pee on yourself all day and night, so you run to the bathroom every 5-10 minutes just to squeeze out a little tinkle! Yep that is what I'm talking about!

1. No sleep --- So we all know how easy it is to sleep with a basketball or watermelon under your tshirt right? I mean it is soooo comfortable! Try it, I encourage Josh to all the time. What it isn't comfortable, you have got to be kidding?!?!? And you toss and turn all night and get up to potty, (see #2) all night and you think --- I can't wait until this baby is here so I can sleep comfortably again.... (insert chuckle) I'm not going to tell anyone that doesn't already know that once the baby is here, you never sleep all night again! That's right, it just doesn't happen!

So there is my list, but in the end it is all worth it! So worth it! I didn't include all the fun things about going into Labor, I am going to wait until Noah is here and that way my memory is really clear and fresh!

A Mess!!!

It is funny how even a toddler knows a mess when they see one! Yes my house is officially a mess, how do I know???? Meredith told me so. This past week my dear husband was off of work and home to study for a big test. So we tried to stay out of his way and be quiet. He often went to the library or coffee shop when we weren't quiet enough. Somewhere in the course of the week our house was turned upside down and shook violently. Everything fell out of it's place and now nothing is where it is supposed to be. So this morning, with my big preggo belly I decided something had to be done and I started to pick up the mess (gasp!) I really did, Meredith decided to help and followed me around also picking up things saying..... Mess! Mess! Mess!

When we were in my bedroom picking up all sorts of who knows what off the floor, she said....Dada Mess!

When we were in the kitchen picking up everything off of the floor and countertops, she said ..... Mama Mess!

When we were in the living room picking up clothes/toys/diapers/cups/and really the list could go on, but I would die of embarrasment, she said.....Mama Mess! Dada Mess!

When we went into the toyroom, I shook my head and shut the door!

When I picked up all of her clothes and stuff and headed upstairs to put them away in her room, she said.....Bwownie Mess! Bwownie Mess!

So I said who made this mess and she said.... Lie-Lee!
So I asked again, Who made this mess in YOUR room? And her reply was again.... Lie-Lee -- Bwownie!

Yep poor Lily & Brownie in Meredith's world they are blamed for everything and poor Lily(Leigh's dog) doesn't even live in this state!

Then & Now - The Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch again this year. Wow! what a difference a year makes. Meredith had a wonderful time. Although she did not want to ride the hayride. I can't believe how much my little girl has grown in a year. This year she LOVED the pumpkin patch! Last year her Mommy LOVED taking her to the pumpkin patch!

She danced and sang and explored the whole area. She had a wonderful time & was so full of energy & fun to be around!

Then.....

Now......

Noah is looking good!

Well I went to the doctor today and things with Noah are looking good! I have managed to gain 36lbs, thank goodness the appointment was 1st thing in the morning or I would have gained a lot more! His heartbeat sounded good and he was doing summersaults for the Nurse and Dr. Benton to see. Dr. Benton also checked me today, boy was that a load of fun! I think I can add that to the Top 10 list of things that suck during pregnancy. Anyway I am dilated a fingertip and my cervix is thinning out which is exactly where I was with Meredith at this point. Hopefully that means Noah won't make me wait until the 19th, but will wait until at least Tuesday October 30th! Well that is our update today! Have a great Friday everyone!

Preparing for the Olympics

No not really, since there isn't an athletic bone in my body, however I feel like I trained for them today. Taking an 18 month old to have pictures taken at Sears has to be somewhat similar to running a triathalon at least. Yep it went that well. We started off by going to Olan Mills, I even called yesterday and made an appointment. I made it for 11am since she is best in the mornings and wouldn't be tired and/or cranky. So we get there at 10:45 and Meredith is all dressed up in her smocked dress with red shoes and a big red bow. She is calmly sitting on the chair eating cheerios as she waits. At 11am I ask the lady where the Olan Mills people are and you guessed it, no one has a clue. So I think fast and call Sears to see if they can take us. I mean it wasn't easy to get her all dressed up and get there on time (see yesterdays post!) So Sears can take us, but not until 12:30. So Josh(who has off this week and was with me) and I decide to grab a quick bite and then head to Sears. We had lunch, Meredith had cheetos and a little ham and wouldn't you know her pretty navy & white gingham dress is now orange in a rather large spot. But hey I don't sweat it, why???? because with a toddler I am learing not to sweat the small stuff!

So we get to Sears where we have to wait until almost 1pm because there are people running over ahead of us. And when it is finally time to take pictures, guess who decides she really didn't want her picture taken today! Yep that is right. She didn't want to sit in the chair and would tell us No! when we asked her to. She also decided she didn't really want to smile either. the best was when we put the cute bumble bee costume on and she decided that she didn't really want to wear that either. Oh well, we took them anyway and they came out okay. I was too tired, from chasing her and holding her down to care. Besides it is hard for her not to look cute so of course she does. It is more of just a cheesy cute!

Preparing for Baby Noah

Yep that is right! Baby Noah Elliot is set to arrive November 19th! Am I ready???? Um......

Are you ever really ready? I mean his room is complete, his clothes are washed, we did buy new blue clothes so he doesn't have to wear pink! We have a carseat, and stroller, and crib, but are we ready? I guess we don't have a choice. Am I nervous? You bet! How will I manage to give my whole self to two children and leave a little left over for Josh. How can I be the best mom possible to two, how will I hold two and comfort two at the same time? Or better yet, how will I feed two at the same time? How will I get two to sleep at the same time? How will I get the laundry, dishes, house cleaned and my own sleep at the same time? How will I get them both dressed and ready to leave the house with sippy cups, blankets, bottles, diapers and wipes at the same time? Sheesh I have a hard enough time doing that one with one! How will I get anywhere on time? I guess it is one of those things you figure out as you go.

So yes ... I am ready. Or as ready as I am going to get. I even did all of my Christmas shopping to prepare, and of course Mere helped.... but that is a story for another post!

Meredith, Brownie & No! No!

Brownie Jane is our family pet ...a 80+ lb chocolate lab... normally Meredith and Brownie are the best of friends, but last night that was not the case. After dinner Josh and I were sitting in the living room watching tv and Meredith was hanging out eating a frosted pumpkin cookie from her Aunt Barbara. She honestly was savoring every bite, it was the last one. And if Meredith loves anything more than Brownie, her daddy or her mama it is food!
So she took her beloved cookie to the playroom and was in there about 5 minutes singing to her music and playing with some toys, when she ran into the living room whining No! No! shaking her little finger and sticking out her bottom lip! They were the most pitiful No No's I had heard. I wasn't quite sure what was wrong, but Josh noticed immediately that the beloved pumpkin cookie that wasn't quite half way through 5 minutes ago was gone. And so was Brownie. So Meredith came and got her daddy by the finger and led him to the playroom where it became evident that she wanted him to scold Brownie, as she showed him how to do it. So he did and then she did and then he did again and then she did one last time!
That night when it was time to go to bed, it was clear Meredith was still a little upset as she did not give Brownie any good night kisses! I guess that teaches Brownie not to mess with her pumpkin cookies!

Here it is!

I have been wanting to start a blog to share the adventures of motherhood and stories of my amazing daughter with friends and family for a while now. I just couldn't think of a great name for my blog, which delayed my actually starting my own. I have been blogging on my family blog, with my extended family for over a year now, but thought a blog dedicated to adventures of motherhood, tales of a toddler and stories of my new adventure that is about to take place in November sometime..... being a mom to 2 tikes under the age of 2.......would be fun! So enjoy and hopefully when our 2nd tike arrives I can continue to do this! Check back often for updates!
