What he Says.....Private Parts - A Hysterical Conversation

The other day Noah rushed in....

"Momma my privates are bleeding!"

"What?!?!?"

"My PRIVATES are BLEEDING!!!!"

"Calm down and let me see."

My very modest child, pulls down his britches and shows me the bleeding...it's not his privates....it's the skin on his body above them....a tiny little scratch that is not indeed bleeding.

"Buddy, your privates are not bleeding, you just have a little scratch....you are okay."

Insert my overly dramatic two year old, who is not modest...in fact she wears her "shakabooty" all the time."

"My pwivates are bweeding too!  My pwivates are bweeding too, Momma!"

"Are not Margot!"

"Yes dey are Wo-wah...Wook mom....Yes dey are!"

"Let me see."

Hurries to pull down her britches too....afterall she loves her "shakabooty";  while my overly-sensitive, very concrete 5 year old complains she doesn't know what the hell she is talking about.

"Margot your privates ARE NOT BLEEDING....in fact YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE PRIVATES!"

"Noah, yes she does have privates."

"Yes Wo-wah I do have pwivates.....see and it's bweeding!"

"What that little butt right there....that's not privates."

"Yes, buddy that little butt right there is her privates....it's called a vagina.... and Margot it's not bleeding, we have several years for that."

"See Wowah!"

A Good Nap

Today we planned to have a playdate with some friends at our neighborhood playground.  However, we are also having wood floors installed and things never go as planned, so we ran into some bumps and had to stick around the house for a while.  Therefore we missed the playground playdate with Margot's little friends.  Her friends still played and then they headed back to Brantley's house for more playing and pizza.  Luckily we were able to sneak away and  join them for a few minutes.

Margot was too busy playing to stop and eat, but thankfully Mrs. Amanda packed her a goody bag to take home.  Margot insisted she eat her pizza when we got out of the car instead of napping.  So she sat down at the table to eat, with all the banging and scraping going on upstairs with our floors being installed and our tile being ripped out right above her head.  I was in the kitchen cleaning up when one of the guys installing the floor asked "How is she sleeping through all this noise?"  And sure enough when I looked over she was out.

It must be so nice to be two and just conk out anywhere.

Guess who used the potty today!

Me!!!! We are no where near potty trained, we could be if I put more effort into it. But Margot is definitely interested. In face today she did not have a diaper on, which is nothing new and she had to go...number 1 and 2 so she found a potty and went.

She is not a fan of applause or praise. It's just when a girls gotta go a girls gotta go. Love my Giddy!

The Nay-Nee

All of my children have blankets or blankies. They all got their own (all the same kind) when I was pregnant with them. Meredith has green (because she was supposed to be a surprise), Noah blue and Margot pink.  My oldest two have always slept with their blankies, but they never needed them.  It was the paci's they could not live without.  I was expecting the same with Margot, but if Margot has taught me anything it is to always expect the unexpected.

She has never liked her pink blankie.  It still sits unused in our linen closet upstairs.  She has however fell madly in love with one that was given to Meredith from a friend when she was born. I guess it's my own fault since I covered her with Meredith's old one from the day she came home from the hosptial. Mainly because it was smaller and warmer. And since she could speak she has named it Nay-nee, which is a loose translation for blankie. And honey she cannot breathe, eat or most importantly sleep without that nay-nee.

We once left it and our bag of important documents (like plane confirmations, disney tickets and birth certificates for the kids) on a monorail at Disney world. I started freaking out. Not because of all the important papers that were lost, but because I knew that no one in Orlando was going to get a wink of sleep without that nay-nee. Thankfully josh and I climbed on every monorail that passed through our hotel and we located it within a half hour. Thank God for small miracles. The documents were there too.

I came home thinking it would be smart to order a back up Nay-nee.  However our original was 5 years old then and washed frequently.  The textures were so vastly different, I knew immediately that a back-up was never going to work.  It now sits to her pink blankie that I bought for her while she was in utero.

That being said the Nay-nee is now like my 4th child. I don't leave home without it and I never leave it at a friends house without permission or without leaving my 3rd child behind with it.

So you can imagine how tough blankie washing day is. I can't just sneak off and wash it. She will then walk around the house yelling "Nay-nee where are you?" And then cry all day until we " fine it momma fine it."  And you can't take it from her when she is sleeping or switch it out for another impostor blankie.  She will call you out on it within twenty minutes.  I promise.  So I've come to learn that telling her, that her Nay-nee needs a bath and having her help me put it in the washer is the best method to go about washing it. She is actually the one that throws it in. Then we normally check on it several times until it is done and depending on her mood we can then easily or forcefully with lots of tears throw it into the dryer. However I must confess, I've been known to give it to her wet.  Margot is a great fit thrower when she does not get her way.  Re-reading that statement makes me think that I may need to take a look at some discipline issues....hmmmpf.

Back to the point....Today the Nay-nee was filthy and it smelled and I was at home waiting for a delivery and nap time was far off (see how much planning goes into the washing of the damn Nay-nee) so we threw it in begrudgingly together.

We checked on it together about 5 times. Then I couldn't find Margot and walked into the laundry room and found this....

I said..."Giddy how did you get up there?"  And I got her down and she showed me.  It's like she is spiderman!

I was impressed, but I knew I had to nip that behavior in the butt immediately.  so I took her down and told her no-no.  And that it was dangerous and as I was pulling her off she grabbed the lid and tried to force it open.  It didn't work.

When she realized the lid wasn't budging she peered in and in the softest voice said "Nay-nee I wuv ooo!"

On Turning 2!

Dearest Margot,

This letter is late, very late, but I didn't want to miss it.  You are two.  TWO.  You are getting so big, yet will always, always always be so baby.  Even at thirty.  I try and cherish your baby days, because you are determined not to be a baby, but to be as big as the bigs and do everything they do.

You my sweet girl are beautiful.  You are strong, you are independent.  You are shy and you are loving.  You are not a performer.  You do things when you want and how you want.  No amount of bribery will change that.  You love "Melmo" and "Tootie Mon-sa".  We celebrated your second birthday with your Sesame Street pals.  In true third child fashion, you have no pictures to prove it, because I cannot find the SD card with them.  At least that's my story because I know I took some.

And like always on your birthday I want to tell you your birth story....

On the morning of July 13th, 2010 I awoke bright and early to get a shower before headed to the hospital for your c-section.  Yours was planned, just like your big brothers.  We can thank your sister for that.  We arrived bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and since you were my third go round, I knew what to expect.  I knew what would happen and I was a little calmer than I had been in the past, although no less nervous.

After being there a couple hours I realized I was yet to be hooked up to an IV and I was wondering if this may delay the c-section.  See I was the first one there and first on the schedule, but I was right.  We couldn't deliver you until I had two bags of fluid in me.

Your c-section was my wildest adventure of the three.  And your sister's was no cake walk.  It took forever for anesthesia to get my spinal in to start the surgery and once it was in, it took forever for my OB to get back to the room.  At two different times during your delivery my blood pressure plummeted.  That is no pleasant feeling.  In fact it's pretty damn scary.  But eventually, in a day that seemed to take forever, you were born.  At 9:20am you arrived.  You were my biggest baby at 8lbs even.

You were quiet when you were first delivered.  I remember being extremely worried, and asking why you weren't crying...... and praying that you would start immediately.  Thankfully, my prayers were answered and you cried the sweetest, tiniest cry.  You were a bright pink, and everyone in the delivery room talked about your beautiful coloring.  Your cord was wrapped around your neck, but you were fine.

You spent a lot of time in the nursery.  To the point where I made your dad go and threaten their lives if they didn't bring you to me.  I also spent a lot of time in recovery.  I had some bleeding issues and lots of pain issues.  Eventually we made it to our room, Your dad helping to push me there and your Mimi pushing you the entire way.   I'm pretty sure that is not hospital policy, but at this point I was ready to go and waiting for transport was not an option, thankfully the nurse agreed.

We spent our two days in the hospital and then headed home, where your big brother and sister anxiously awaited your arrival.  You made our family complete.  Happy Birthday Baby Margot.

This was written in November 2012 - I'm so sorry.

Friday Fun-day

Today when I picked up Noah from preschool I told him I would take him to McDonald's.  I was thinking the drive-thru which is about all the McDonald's I can handle nowadays.  He was thinking inside in the play place.  Reluctantly I agreed.  When him and Meredith were both in preschool we would meet up with friends all the time (not that he remembers those days now)..... now we never go so this was a real treat.

I ordered them lunch, gathered our food and drinks and headed into the place place.  We were the only people in there besides one other mother and her son who was Noah's age. Within three minutes both of my tikes decided they weren't eating and wanted to play.  Noah and his new best friend (so he told me) helped Margot up into the play area.  I let them, forgetting Meredith was not with us to help guide her and help her down.

Within 5 more minutes , the place filled up.  There were now at least 15 kids int he play area, Margot being the youngest and the rest about Noah's age.  I started getting very nervous about Margot being up there with all the bigger kids, but after hearing her fuss loudly at a few I figured she could hold her own.  Things were going well, until about 20 minutes later when I decided I was ready to leave.

I called their names and Noah came down.

I sent Noah back up where he tried to coerce Margot into coming down with him.  It didn't work.

I then sent Noah back up to make her come down.  It didn't work either.

I then instructed him to go back up and try and get her to sit on or in his lap to come down the slide.  I heard "NO NO NO NO NO!"  It didn't work.

Noah's new best friend's mom tried telling her son, who was a little smaller than Noah, to help her come down. I got real panicky and said "We have it, thanks though."  He tried anyway, much to my dismay and....It didn't work.

I then asked Noah to get her to watch him come back down through the area you crawl up.  She watched and stayed firmly planted at the top.  It didn't work.

Meanwhile there are now like 20 kids in the area running around and screaming like hyeanas.

After about 10 minutes of me calling her name and begging Noah to please help me by helping her down.  I gave up. I just left her there.

Oh I'm only kidding.... I took off my shoes....I waited at the bottom for my turn in the climbing structure....   waited like 2 minutes, there were that many kids....and then I started to climb.  Guess what, it's not made for big people.

As I was climbing up in my white jeans, I heard parents chuckling and kids laughing.  I was also told by a few kids that I was way too big for the play place and that it was not for mommas!  Thanks kiddos, I had no idea.

Oh and let me say this...Upon my embarrassing climb of shame I noticed a few things mommas....that play place is DISGUSTING!  I mean it...AWFUL.  Really AWFUL.  It's dusty and dirty and slimy feeling.

When I got to the top and reached for Margot to bring her back down the climbing area she ran away.  Go figure...right?

Finally I talked her into coming near me and she talked me into going down the red slide.  Both kids and parents were laughing when I emerged from the slide, Margot in tow.

Yes, just another Friday fun-day.  No more play places for this momma for a while.

And that there is Noah's new best friend's momma...who totally thought it was okay for her 3 year old to carry my 21 month old.

And they're off!

Meredith has been asking for some time to take her training wheels off.  Like months.  I haven't because let's face it, driveway time is my favorite time of the day and with three tikes running and riding all over, I knew chasing after one on a real bike was not ideal for me.  It's really all about me.  Besides Meredith has been riding her balance bike for quite some time and was already AMAZING on two wheels, who needs pedals right???

Tonight though I broke the news to her that her best little friends A and E had taken theirs off and were riding without them now.  So that only set me up to having to take off hers.  And luckily Josh was agreeable and he did.  Five minutes later she was like this....

She kind of took to the whole thing like a fish to water.  I'm pretty sure that strider bike had a lot to do with it.  We love those bikes.  Before I knew it she was going up hill to.  We still need some practice but I'd say she did pretty good for her first 15 minutes without training wheels.  And I'd say my days of the balance bike in the driveway are over, at least for Meredith!  Margot has been eyeing it for some time so she is thrilled!

And this little guy, well he is a whiz on his strider bike too.  Actually he's better on his strider bike than most adults on bikes.  Noah is pro on anything with wheels.  And with the way he's wheeling up and down the hilly streets our neighborhood I think he will soon be without his trianing wheels too.  Luckily for me, he's a cautious little guy!

And not to be left out of the milestone department, tonight Margot learned to double fist freezy pops!  Now that my friends is talent!  So proud of my Giddy!  And seriously how grown up is she looking now!  Not to mention every time her sister got off her big bike, Margot did indeed try and get on.  Every single time.

Her Own Little Person

My sweet, little Margot, also known as Giddy....is what some may call a handful.  She's spunky, and busy and always into something she shouldn't be.  Today when I pulled into the garage and undid her seat-belt she quickly flipped over the side of her seat into the middle and ran to the back of the Yukon.  Before I could even try and grab her, she was already trying to buckle herself into her sisters booster seat.

Realizing the only way to get her was to go after her, I did just that and that's when she climbed on the side to get to the very back and away from me.  I'm pretty sure the thought of just flipping over the back seat to the very back crossed her mind, but she probably realized I may be able to grab her first.  She's quick.

So I got out and opened the back and used Noah to try to entice her out, with fruit snacks.  Yes, she still loves her gummy snacks.  For one quick second she sat there panicked...and she yelled..."MOMMA HELLLPPPP!"

But then she realized she wasn't in any real danger and totally had it.  So she started the catch me if you can game.

It was clear she had no intention of getting out of her predicament or the car with my help.  When I tried to help her out she totally screamed "I do!"

Yes, she is independent for sure and full of hell.  But boy is she fun! And full of all kinds of mischief.

And she totally gets away with everything, I'm sure it has nothing to do with those big blue eyes and that adorable smile.  Nope...nothing at all.

Tonight Josh and I were hanging out with the tikes in the playroom.  Mere and I had just got home from softball practice and I was filling Josh in about that and he was filling me in about the others.  Noah and Meredith went to grab a quick snack before bed and so it was just us and Giddy.  She decided that she would scale the dresser in play room, one drawer at a time, to get to the top.  Josh and I continued our conversation while intermittently saying "No Margot! That's dangerous."

She would back down and do something else, but then 3 seconds later she was back at it.  We would then repeat, "No, No Margot."  After about a minute of us hindering her progress, she turned and looked at us and said "Bye-bye" and pointed for us to leave the toy room.  Determined.....determined to get to the top.

The girl has spunk I tell ya.

Superstar Skater

Have you ever seen an 18 month old skate?  Me either.  But this one did....at on the slick floors at the skating rink.  She went to a birthday party with her older siblings and INSISTED on skating too.  So we put some on her and away she went.  Everyone there was most impressed.  Hmm is there an Olympic sport for skating?

Tips for Margot

Dear Margot,

Since you are still pretty new to this thing called life, I thought I would impart a few words of wisdom to help you survive in this big, bright world.

1.  Despite what your mother's day out friends say, the macaroni, pudding, yogurt, spaghetti in the hair look is NOT in style.  I promise.

2.  Despite Meredith's wish, we do not in fact have a robot named Rosie like the Jetsons that comes behind you every meal to sweep and vacuum the food.  Yes, as a child I thought that was futuristic and be around when I was an adult, but that is not the case.  And Brownie she just doesn't do that well of a job, so the food needs to stay at the table...or the highchair tray.

3.  Diaper changes are necessary.  Diaper rash is absolutely no fun, it's itchy and uncomfortable.  So please, please, please stop thrashing and wailing when I change you.  It is so not necessary.

4.  We do not have or want an indoor pool.  No matter how much water you spill out of the kentwood machine, it will never be enough to swim in.  Please stop trying.

5.  Speaking of swimming, the toilet is for poop and tee-tee.  It is not for swimming or splashing.

6.  While we are on potty talk, toilet paper is expensive.  Once you place the entire roll in the toilet it is no longer of use.  If you want to go to college one day...again Please stop.

7.  Hiding you shoes will not result in you never having to wear them.  It will make me crazy.  All the time I spend searching and cursing the fact that we are now late.  Yes, please leave your shoes in the cubby like your brother and sister.

8.  Snack time is at 9am and 3pm.  You are not allowed to help yourself to a snack any ole' time you want.  Your brother is wrong...we do not just help ourselves to cookies and fruit snacks all day long.

9.  Crayons and markers were made for paper.  Not walls....or cabinets....or furniture....or clothing....or your face....or to eat, they are for paper only.

10.  It is not nice to play hide and seek with important things.  Like keys, remotes, wallets, your shoes!  It's only nice to play when you tell someone you are playing and you hide yourself.  Not things.

Sincerely,
Momma

What day is it???

I know it's been a while, what can I say.  I've been busy, I'm 4 issues behind in my US Weekly...you know it's been rough around here.  But, I've missed  blogging and documenting all of the kiddo's milestones and things they say  and do that just make me smile.

Let's see....

Margot....oh my little caboose.  The girl has more energy than my other children combined.  She NEVER stops.  She is constantly in motion and when she is strapped into her car seat she is a jibber jabbering away.  She cannot stop moving.  It's different.  Her favorite things to do these days are to climb...anything.  To shove stuff in places they don't belong.  I found a sippy cup with week old milk in the crystal cabinet.  A cabinet that I don't frequent often and therefore I was lucky to find this sippy full of yucky goodness.  She is talking alot.  Her favorite thing to say is Noah....O-wah!  She repeats everything her big sister says and trys to say Meredith, but Ta-ta works for now.  She went to the pediatrician for her 15 month check up.  Besides her constant runny nose and changing her thyroid dosage again, she is the picture of health.  I just love this one to pieces.  Melts her Momma's heart.  She loves to cuddle and give kisses.  She loves to wave and say bye-bye.  She claps for herself when she is proud of her accomplishment.  And if you don't pay her enough attention she walks over, tilts her head and sticks her smiling face right in yours.  Her favorite place to be is outside.  She would go to anyone if they promised to take her out to walk, play, ride or swing.  She's our giddy girl!

Noah....This boy....oh the love of my life.  He is such a Momma's boy.  He wrote the definition on that.  He has me wrapped around those little fingers of his and I often forget in less than a month he will be 4 years old.  Independent is not a word I would use to describe my little ham. He likes for his Momma to do everything for him.  He is always smiling, always willing to give you a  hug and a kiss.  He is as tender hearted as they come.  He wakes up everyone morning in the best mood and is so dang lovable.  It's hard not to start your day off right with Noah.  He LOVES school.  He is learning so much this year.  He is writing his name and knows all of his letter sounds.  He loves to ride his bike and begs to do it everyday all day.  He stills loves trucks, planes, trains and automobiles.  When he grows up he is going to be a monster truck driver and a jet fighter pilot.  He wants to play all sports and loved soccer.  He is getting ready for t-ball.  Oh how I love this boy.

Meredith....my big girl.  My first.  The one I tried the hardest with and worried the most.  The one who will probably have a complex because of it.  Oh I kid.  She's my learning curve.  She sets the pace.  She is getting so big so fast.  She is so sweet and compassionate.  She loves fiercely, worries constantly and has a heart of gold.  She is loving school this year and loves her teacher.  She is reading....thank goodness...she's been wanting to for so long.  She absorbs so much....I'm impressed on a daily basis.  She is cheering and dancing and loves being center stage.  She is funny.  She loves being the big sister and the boss.  She loves riding bikes, and writing....all over everything....list after list after list....she is her father's daughter.  She is my first....my big....my love.

So that's where we have been.  Josh and I well....we are blessed.

Lip Smackin'...Hip Shakin'...Foot Stompin'...

Today was marked a day of a big milestone for Margot....no not walking, she's been doing that  awhile now.  In fact Margot achieved this one way before her brother and sister.  I think Meredith did it for the first time at four and Noah at about three years old.  But Margot, she marches to a beat of a different drum....her own...Yes at a mere 14 months, Margot dug into my purse, fished out my peppermint flavored gum pack.  Opened it and then popped a piece into her mouth.  I figured this out as she came around the corner smacking her lips and chewing like a cow....while carrying  her container of gum.  She smiled from ear to ear when I saw her.  To make amends for doing something she knew she shouldn't be doing, she walked up and offered me a piece.  Sweet girl she is.

Big Sisters are the best....Little sisters can be a pest

Margoth thinks her big sister is the best.  She does.  She LOVES her some Meredith.  When Meredith gets home from school she squeals in delight.  She also gives her great big bear hugs and lots of kisses.  Her brother sometimes gets jealous from all the attention his big sister gets, but Noah and Margot have that love/hate thing going on and are constantly battling for the attention

But there is just something about having a sister.  When Margot gets the opportunity to crawl freely upstairs she often high tails it to her sister's room.  She doesn't get to do this too often, because we have 17 stairs with no baby gate at the top. .....Note to self --- take care of that soon.  Once she is in her sister's room she is as happy as a pig in mud.  She likes to touch all her sister's toys, sometimes eating them, she likes to pull clothes off the shelves and things off the night stand.  She loves messing everything up as Meredith would say.....much to her dismay.

On this particular day, Meredith was in her room playing with her smurfs on her bed.  Margot hasn't mastered climbing up there yet, so that is Meredith's safe zone when the little monster is in her room.  Luckily, there were plenty of other things to entertain Miss Priss.. for instance her sister's underwear drawer.

Yes she grabbed all the panties and started putting them on her own head like a hat, she then drapped some tights over her shoulders like a shawl.  A very fancy shawl indeed.  She placed a few more panties around her arms like bracelets.  She's very stylish.

And I know you maybe thinking....well how the hell did that baby get those panties on her head by herself....NO WAY.  This is the child that can open a pouch of fruit snacks by herself.  I also confess we often put diapers and such on her head like hats....she likes it....and she's used to it.  As you can see she has multiple pairs on that head of hers.

Once she had satisfactorily gone through the drawers, she started rummaging through the cabinets.  All the while, my five year old is saying "Mom are watching her....Mom she going to break something!"  The adoring sister thing doesn't always go both ways.

The best thing about Meredith's room is there are lots of drawers and lots of new things to get into.

The calico critter house is her absolute favorite though, because those furry little animals taste so incredibly sweet.  And occasionally she will play with them too!

Yes I do believe in a 12-14 years I'll be hearing "Mom she in my stuff again!"  I know my poor mom heard it .....Over and Over.  It's a shame you have to get older to see your foolish ways.

Going to give the Bigs a run for their money.

Well apparently his little sister has decided she is going to give him a run for the money.  After she was up, changed, fed and playing contently with some toys this am, I decided to sneak onto the computer to get a few work related things done.  And all at once I noticed that she was not chatting up her toys like she ususally does.  So I went looking for her.  She wasn't on the rug near all of her toys where I had left her.

Instead I heard a rummaging sound coming from the pantry.  These days I have learned to keep my camera out and available, because with babies you have to act fast.  I grabbed it off the island when I saw this....

Notice the already open and eaten pack of gummy fruit snacks to her left.

For the record I hate gummy snacks.  They are sticky and cause cavities.  They are not filling, I'm sure they are full of sugar, even if they are also "made of real fruit."  They are the one snack that not only provides zero nutrition, but they leave your kids still hungry and wanting for another snack, even your 13 month old.  One pack just doesn't do it.  But obviously I buy them...

I buy them because I was not denied junk food ever.  I was also offered healthy options, although now I rarely take them.  I just tend to eat the junk food out of the sight of 6 little eyes.  Therefore I use the excuse that my gummy snack purchase help me teach my tkes, that moderation is key.  Really I'm just a huge sap.

Apparently Margot has missed the bus on the  moderation is key lesson.  Pack number two....showing her mad skills on opening it alone.

Mom...I'm not asking for help....I'm showing you I can do it by myself.   Not once did I cry or protest for you to come to the pantry to help me....but if you want to see how I do this, I will show you.
This is how you do it....Tear it off.

Dig right in and get one....See it's open.

When you finish your second bag....just go right in for your third....like my mom said they are NOT very filling.  It defintely takes more than one bag.

Yes...I did, I opened that one too and ate it before you got here....I know I'm so incredibly smart.  My big brother and sister have taught me so well.

Mom, I had no idea that three packs were not okay....I didn't know I swear.  Noah said it was fine...Sorry mom.  But can I finish it now....I'd hate to waste it.

Thanks Mom, you're the best.  I'm not sure why Ta-ta and Noah say you are the meanest mom ever sometimes. I totally disagree with them.  Hmmm does that get me another pack after this one?

She literally ate three packs of gummy snacks while I snapped over 30 pictures.  When I finally picked her and her trash up and shut the pantry there were plenty of crocodile tears.  Luckily she is like her brother in other ways too and recovered and moved on quickly.  I guess I'm going to  have to start keeping a very close eye on the pantry again.

Watch out world here comes Margot!

Today the caboose started Mother's Day Out.  It was a rough one.  I didn't cry when my big girl started Kindergarten.  I didn't cry when my mamma's boy started Pre-k 3.  But today I shed a tear as my caboose started Mother's Day Out.  It's a milestone.  She's growing up and I'm so not ready for this.  She is growing much faster then the other two did.  It's just not fair.  I miss those newborn days.

I used my day to run to the grocery, run a few errands, then get a hair cut.  I didn't sit around the phone like I did when I first left Meredith at Mom's day out.  Nope, I'm a seasoned Mamma now, and I know she was in very capable and loving hands and she would be okay when I got back.

Margot's First Birthday Party....better late then never

Okay this post is a whole lot of late, but here it is.  We celebrated Margot's first birthday party with a couple of celebrations this year.   First we had dinner and cake for her birthday at home.  I cooked her favorite meal and got her a cake and petit fors.  She loved them!

Here is my beautiful girl on her birthday.

She was very generous with her petit fors....for that her brother and sister were grateful.

but she did do her fair share of damage to them.

After cake we opened gifts and she got her very on wheels.....I think she was a tad disappointed it wasn't a power wheels.

That weekend we threw a big party to celebrate.  Because it is not everyday you get to celebrate your baby's first birthday.  We invited a few close friends and family to help us sing.

I did lots of decorating to turn Mimi's pool into a magical first birthday.  Margot's Aunt Lei Lei, Aunt Carrie and Mimi helped out a lot too!

Friends and family starting arriving and everyone jumped right in the pool.  There was lots of splashing, good food, laughter and plenty of Popsicles and balloons.  Even the birthday girl had fun swimming.

After an hour or so we made the birthday girl get out to sing.  She was not happy.  It was almost naptime and she had just spent a long time in the sun.  I know it's cliche' but...."It's my party and I'll cry if I want to!"

Josh explained to her that after we sang she was going to get to eat that cake.  This calmed her down a little.

After a little taste of the cake.....

she pushed me away and went back for more....

then she tried to take it away from Josh....

With that we put her on the ground with it and she got right to it....

After cake everyone swam again until the party was over.  Margot went down for a nap before her party ended and when she awoke we opened a few gifts with the few friends and family who hung around.

Although she was way more into the cupcakes then the gifts.

The caboose is one....I'm still trying to figure out where the year went.
